Following claims by some social media users and thought leaders that suspended police chief Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari is being accused of drug dealings in order to avoid extradition to the United States (US), it has now been revealed that he will be extradited to the US following the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s investigation (NDLEA).
According to The Nation Newspaper, the Federal Government has reached an agreement with the FBI to hand over a deputy commissioner of police who is wanted for receiving a bribe from a $1.1 million loot from a suspected celebrity internet fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi.
The police officials reportedly held off on taking action against Kyari for four days until the Presidency authorized Inspector-General Usman Baba Alkali to release him to the NDLEA.
The Federal Government was already finalizing the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) with the United States on Kyari’s extradition, according to a top source in the presidency. # NDLEA Abba Kyari
