Breaking: Abba Kyari Stand Tall, Defends FBI Indictment Before Police Panel

Abba Kyari, the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, has begun his defence against the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) indictment before the Special Investigation Panel.

Former Head of the Intelligence Response Team Abba Kyari testified before a panel led by Joseph Egbunike, Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department.

On Tuesday, the under-fire super cop made his case to the SIP at the Police Force headquarters in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

“Since Monday, the panel has been sitting. Kyari appeared before the panel members today (Tuesday), presenting his defence to the SIP members in response to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s indictment. “From there, the panel would decide,” our source said.

Abba Kyari is being investigated for her alleged role in a $1.1 million internet wire fraud orchestrated by renowned Instagram celebrity Abbas Ramon, also known as Hushpuppi, and five others.

The FBI claimed Abba Kyari detained a certain Kelly Chibuzor at Hushpuppi’s request in their indictment of the super cop.

HushPuppi and other conspirators held Chibuzor in police custody for a month to further enable HushPuppi and other conspirators to defraud a Qatari school founder of $1.1 million.

The FBI also claims that on January 20, 2020, Abba Kyari was paid a total of $20,600 through two bank accounts provided by the suspended DCP.

Following Kyari’s indictment, he was suspended and replaced as the new Head of the Intelligence Response Team by DCP Tunji Disu, who has since resumed his duties at the Force headquarters in Abuja.
