The State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, disclosed these measures on Thursday during a comprehensive press conference held in Asaba, the state capital. Speaking on behalf of the state leadership, he explained that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has issued explicit directives mandating the administration to aggressively step up the implementation of key initiatives capable of invigorating economic activity at the grassroots level.

“The governor has directed that we intensify efforts at rolling out programmes that will indeed improve the purchasing power of our people,” Aniagwu said.

“Once this fund gets to the hands of the civil servants, that civil servant is also enabled to spend money in certain directions. That way, government would have been able to take the benefit of the reforms from the macro level to the micro level,” he said.

Mr. Aniagwu further disclosed that Governor Oborevwori has issued direct instructions to all government agencies responsible for empowerment to immediately commence the process of identifying eligible beneficiaries for various upcoming support programmes.
