Utomi criticized the political elite for repeatedly making poor choices, particularly pointing to the National Assembly, which he described as emblematic of the nation’s leadership problems. He urged the political class to publicly acknowledge their role in Nigeria’s woes.

On the issue of fuel subsidies, Utomi advocated for the reintroduction of a targeted subsidy regime. He argued that essential sectors, like fuel for public use, should be subsidized, drawing parallels to agricultural subsidies in the United States.

Utomi further stated that the failure of leadership in Nigeria should lead to public accountability similar to what is seen in other parts of the world, such as Southeast Asia.
