Anyim boasts that the PDP will soon take over leadership of the current House of Assembly, claiming that nine lawmakers are abandoning the APC, and that the party will be unable to achieve a 2/3rd majority in the statehouse without them.

According to him,  “by next month, many more will join our lawmakers, and before they know it, we will have taken over the Ebonyi state House of Assembly.”

Anyim’s bravado comes less than 24 hours after 15 elected the member representing Afikpo North-West constituency and the Deputy Leader of the House as the Assembly’s Deputy Speaker on Monday.

After a letter purportedly written by the Deputy Speaker, Chief Obasi Odefa, revealed that he had resigned as a member of the House, the party took action.

The letter was read on the House floor by the Speaker, Hon. Francis Nwifuru, resulting in his seat being declared vacant. “We have them on our side,” Anyim said on Tuesday, “and we want you to keep in mind that many APC lawmakers in Ebonyi will join the PDP next month and in the months to come.”

“Some people desperately forge signatures, some people desperately concoct members,” he continued. The truth, on the other hand, cannot be lied to.

As you can see in this meeting, our House of Assembly members are in good shape; nine of them are present.

Today, we have a big fish in this family, a member of the APC Board of Trustees, a leader, a critical stakeholder in Ebonyi, the pride of Ebonyi state government, and he is with us.

It is my distinct honor to introduce Chief Austin Edeze on behalf of this caucus. The empire is beginning to fall apart. It will continue to fall apart. “
