8 killed, 2 injured in fresh attack in Plateau

Armed men reportedly invaded Cinke and Zarama villages in Kwall district, Irigwe chiefdom, Bassa local area of Plateau State on Thursday night, killing eight people and injuring two more, Ejes Gist Newspaper Reports.

The State Police Command has not confirmed the occurrence, but the National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association, IDA, Davidson Malison, has confirmed that the attackers took the property as well as the victims.

“Residents of Cinke and Zarama villages in Kwall District awoke on the left side of the bed on Thursday, May 5, 2022, following unprovoked attacks launched by Fulani Militia, resulting in the deaths of eight people and the injuries of two more,” he stated.

The incident is undoubtedly part of a campaign of terror and mayhem in Rigwe territory aimed at forcibly evicting the peace-loving Rigwe people from their ancient land and annihilating the entire tribe.

“The marauders have assumed an immune group of people and feel untouchable, defying the authorities concerned, and the attack has become a daily thing.”

This wave of indiscriminate killings and property destruction, as well as the theft of valuable Rigwe items, has reached an unacceptable level, necessitating a drastic decision and action that will call and treat the attackers in the language they understand, allowing them to retreat into their cocoons.

“We are once again in great sadness, and we sadly empathize with the entire Rigwe community, particularly the direct families, on their loss.” Our plea on the authorities charged with the responsibility of protecting residents’ lives and property to step up and double their efforts in protecting the Rigwe people cannot be overstated.”

“The National leadership of Irigwe Development Association (IDA) and encourages her people to be security-conscious and alert,” he added, listing the victims as “Irah Weyi 48 years, Elizabeth Weyi 21 years, Ladi Mandu, Mary Gya 4 years, Esther La’aji 5 years, Titus Agah 40, Aweh Ngwe 47 and Sunday Dada” (Corporal).

Munto Gado and Sarah Weyi were both hurt. Three phones, a television, and an MP3 (Jambox) were all destroyed or stolen.
