Ruka Tayo, 38, and her friend, Jimoh Abiola, 35, were charged with assaulting her former husband’s new wife in an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 12.

Five years after their divorce, Tayo and her co-defendant allegedly assaulted the complainant at her former husband’s home in Ikorodu.
On a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit an offence and assault, the two defendants are on trial. They pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge, however.
The defendants committed the crimes on February 26 at around 4 p.m. at Road 7, Mowowole Estate, Oreta Igbogbo area of Ikorodu, according to the prosecutor, ASP Gbemileke Agoi.

Agoi claimed that the defendants conspired to assault the complainant, Mrs Adeyemi Morenikeji, at her husband’s home because she married one of the defendants’ ex-husbands.
According to him, the offences were in violation of Sections 412 and 172 of the Lagos Criminal Law of 2015.
Mrs R. A. Onilogbo, the Magistrate, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with two sureties in the same amount.
She set a date for the case to be heard on March 31.
