Three women have been charged with blasphemy after allegedly desecrating the Qur’an.
The women have been taken to a Sharia Court in Gusau, Zamfara State, to face charges.

Rabi Bello, Hazira Bello, and Hafsatu Isah, all from the Gada community in the State’s Bungudu Local Government Area, were allegedly brought before Sharia court judge Garba Sahabi Gusau.
The suspects allegedly desecrated the Holy Qur’an by staining it with blood collected after childbirth and throwing it into a toilet, according to the Daily Trust.
The stained Holy Qur’an, 77 syringes full of blood collected after childbirth, other Islamic books, a paper bearing the name of one of the suspects, and other items related to the alleged crime reportedly sanctioned by a necromancer (sorcerer) known only as Tukur were among the evidence presented to the court, according to reports.
The women allegedly performed the ritual to earn money, according to the prosecutor. Meanwhile, the judge postponed the case’s hearing until March 3.
