2023: PDP Reps Caucus moves to endorse Wike as Atiku’s running mate
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus in the House of Representatives has begun moves to endorse Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
A meeting will be held today, according to Mr. Busayo Oluwole Oke, a member of the caucus, to deliberate and decide on the matter.
Oke, who chairs the House Committee on Public Accounts, explained that the members, who are made up of party loyalists from all six geopolitical zones, want to support Wike.
“We, the Progressives in the National Assembly’s Green Chamber, under the umbrella of our great party, the PDP, are meeting on Monday in Abuja to endorse River State Governor Nyesom Wike as our party’s vice presidential candidate.”
“Over the years, we’ve kept a close eye on all of his activities.
We also evaluated his ability and capability in all areas of life, and we saw in him everything the party requires to win the presidential election in 2023.
We have complete faith in the duo, led by our presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku.”
“Wike’s achievements as governor of River State are well-known, and he stands head and shoulders above the rest of the country.
He is a detribalized fighter for true federalism and a defender of our constitution.”
“While we respect the presidential candidate’s right to choose whoever he wants, his decision to engage in broader consultation is commendable and indicative of a true democrat.”
The caucus will meet with our presidential flag bearer as soon as possible to convey our position to him.”
