2023: mocks APC, says ‘Our going ahead as scheduled’

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that its Special National Convention/Presidential Primary will take place as scheduled today (Saturday).

The party responded to reports from “some strange quarters” that it had postponed its 2022 National Convention, which was scheduled to take place today, Saturday, May 28, 2022.

Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, stated this in an Abuja statement.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP states unequivocally that its 2022 Special National Convention has not been postponed,” he said.

“The PDP’s 2022 Special National Convention is scheduled to take place today, Saturday, May 28, 2022, and there are no plans to postpone it.”

“In line with our mission to rescue and rebuild our nation from misrule, the PDP as a party of due process has since begun processes to elect our Presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.”

“Our Party will not be distracted by the rudderless, deceitful, and manipulative All Progressives Congress (APC), which is desperate to create uncertainty, derail the electoral process, and subvert the will of the people in the 2023 general elections.”

“Our Presidential candidates, national delegates, throngs of members of our great Party, and Nigerians from across the country are all set for the PDP 2022 Special National Convention, which will, in the end, credibly and transparently deliver a Presidential candidate who will be the choice of the majority of Nigerians in the 2023 general elections.”

“As a result, the PDP urges our members, throngs of supporters, the international community, election monitors, and the general public to ignore and dismiss claims that the 2022 Special National Convention has been postponed.”

“The APC is fighting a losing battle because its reliance on manipulations and underhanded dealings will never persuade Nigerians to vote out the APC in 2023 and begin the nation’s rebuilding,” he added.
