Goodluck Jonathan Sends Message to Nigerians
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has pleaded with all Nigerians voting on Saturday to remain peaceful.
On Saturday, when they exercise their right to vote, he urged Nigerians to demonstrate patriotism and genuine sportsmanship.
Jonathan also urged politicians to avoid hatred and violence and to be cautious in their efforts to strengthen the nation’s democracy.
In a message to Nigerians released by his Special Adviser Ikechukwu Eze on Tuesday in Abuja, he made the request.
Jonathan stated that Nigerians must prevent elections from becoming a source of violence and anarchy.

He stated, “We must resist the temptation to give in to those who seek to turn our communities and states into conflict zones for their own ends.”
“Let us avoid hatred and violence and demonstrate genuine sportsmanship during and following the election.”
Jonathan stated that the 2023 election is a moment of truth and courage for all citizens, emphasizing its significance.

In addition, he urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), key stakeholders, security agencies, civil and non-partisan actors to conduct themselves professionally throughout the general election.
This year’s presidential election will be held on Saturday, February 25, in all 36 federated states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
