It will be remembered that the PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike have been at odds over demands to remove the party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.

Among those calling for Ayu’s removal are Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and former PDP Deputy National Chairman Chief Olabode George.

This came on the same day that the APC presidential candidate named Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State as the South-West Zonal Coordinator of his presidential Campaign Council.

However, a former vice president’s ally, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, dismissed the speculation, saying, “that is not true; there is no truth in that at all.”

Tinubu appoints Akeredolu as the S-West Campaign Co-ordinator.

Meanwhile, Asiwaju Tinubu stated in a letter dated August 8, 2022 that Akeredolu deserved the appointment because of his impressive political achievements and exemplary leadership as governor of his state and party member.

“By way of this letter, we are pleased to formally convey your appointment as the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council’s Zonal Campaign Coordinator (South-West).”

“This appointment is fitting and appropriate given your impressive political accomplishments and exemplary leadership as governor of your state and party member.”

“We are grateful that you have joined our campaign team. We know you will give your all in this new role as we conduct an effective, message-driven campaign that will lead us to victory in the 2023 presidential election.”

Tinubu-Shettima ticket ‘ll promote indivisibility of Nigeria — Group

The Patriots Roundtable, through its National Coordinator, Prince Uthman Shodipe-Dosunmu, also stated that after a thorough examination, they decided to pitch camp with the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, based on their vision of the Nigerian union’s indivisibility.

Shodipe-Dosunmu stated that they were prepared to engage without prejudice, debate without malice, and tussle in the intellectual fray of ideas and idealism with purposeful patriotic largeness.

“They are known for equity and fairness,” he said. They will work to foster unity among our diverse union members while not favouring any tribe or region.”

“As an Independent Support Group, we will continue to vigorously advocate for Tinubu-dream Shettima’s ticket, ultimately believing that this dynamic duo is borne out of an inherent undying idealism that will heal the broken places, rectify the ancient wrongs, mend the wounds of old, and, God willing, pull our nation out of the present diverse challenges.”

He warned all of the group members across the country that the journey ahead would be difficult and demanding.

“There will be naysayers and malignant agents of envy and recidivism,” he predicted. There will be ruin provocateurs posing as salvagers of emblems.

“This is the leitmotif of the Patriots Roundtable.” We have joined the fray to enlighten and guide, contribute and support, and strengthen and enhance the national democratic space amid the clamour and conflicting ideals about the Nigerian journey as our country pivots toward the 2023 general elections. We are prepared. We have proven to be steadfast, focused, and firm in this patriotic struggle.”
