The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River has placed an order for three million bunches of brooms from local broom producers for new entrants into the party.
Mr Bassey Ita, the party’s Publicity Secretary, revealed this in a statement to newsmen in Calabar on Monday. Ita stated that the commodity, which is the APC’s symbol, had become rare in the state as a result of the surge of new members following Gov. Ben Ayade’s defection to the party.
“To accommodate the increased demand, the party placed an order for three million bunches of brooms from local producers.
It is no longer news that our dear state has seen a broom revolution as a result of our charming governor’s defection to our party.”
“However, as millions of our people continue to identify with the party, broom scarcity has hit Cross River.
Local government chairmen, councillors, federal and state lawmakers, as well as 100,000 of their followers, joined the party last weekend in the council areas of Bekwarra, Ikom, and Etung,” the statement continued.
The party praised “the people of the state’s tenacity of purpose and single-mindedness in aligning with the governor in his endeavour to bring Cross River to the centre.”
