Ten people have been confirmed dead  


Ten people have been confirmed dead after the church in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Area, Delta State, collapsed.

When the church was holding a service, the building that belongs to Salvation Ministries caved in.

During Tuesday’s evening service, the building, which was being used for the first time, reportedly collapsed at about 5:55 p.m.

According to reports, eight people were rescued unharmed, while four others were rushed to the Asaba Specialist Hospital.


Chief Patrick Ukah, Secretary to the State ; Dr. Ononye Mordi, State Commissioner for Health; and a team of Red Cross officers and fire fighters were on the ground on a rescue mission at the time of filing this report.

Worshippers, family members, and sympathizers were seen crying as rescue operations continued.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed this on Wednesday morning.
